May 12, 2006, Newsletter Issue #66: Stay Well-Rounded

Tip of the Week

While it is important to spend a great deal of time practicing and performing the guitar, keep in mind that the guitarist is an artist and not just a guitar playing machine. The final outcome of a personīs music consists of what they are as a person. Barney Kessel used to recommend reading poetry and Jim Hall enjoys art museums. Take some time to be a well rounded, educated person and your art will be all the better for it.
